Students enrolling in WMA have established their intention to achieve and maintain their recovery from a Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

WMA takes an individualized loving and positive approach to meet each student where they are and is accepting of all individuals.

Students are with like-minded peers with recovery support integrated throughout each school day.

Each student assists in developing their own individualized recovery plans with the support of our certified peer support specialist.

Each student has an individualized course of study that aligns with the North Carolina high school graduation requirements.

Individualized instruction is given through a combination of online accredited classes taught by NC certified teachers and direct instruction by our fulltime NC certified teacher. Each student successfully progresses at their own pace.

Juniors and seniors are eligible for dual enrollment at Wake Tech Community College to take virtual classes free of charge.

WMA is a non-profit, private school that is funded by student tuition, fundraising, grants, and the generosity of private donations.

WMA serves ages 13-21 and grades 9-12.

Small class size with a student/teacher ratio of 10:1. Student enrollment will max at 20 students for year 3.

We are not a treatment center. WMA works closely with addiction professionals and treatment centers to recommend a higher level of care, if needed. WMA is a non-profit, private high school that integrates recovery support throughout each school day and guides students to successfully achieve their high school diploma.

There is an individualized return-to-use policy per our student handbook.

WMA accepts any student as long as the student meets the eligibility criteria and successfully completes the enrollment process.

Yes, we hold our students accountable for their sobriety. Tests are done randomly and frequently and cost is included in tuition. A failed drug screen does not automatically result in suspension or expulsion, but can be a sign that additional support is needed.

Families are responsible for transportation. Two bus routes are also accessible and are located within a block from the school.

WMA serves any family that successfully completes the admission process and is willing to provide transportation to and from the school.
